Ensuring Public Safety
An
essential function of California’s government is ensuring public safety
and security while maintaining strict adherence to the Constitution of
the State of California and the Constitution of the United States. The
state should encourage the enforcement of existing criminal laws,
including quality-of-life laws concerning property destruction, petty
theft, loitering, and disturbing the peace. The state should continue
to implement incarceration policies that protect the public from
recidivist violent and sexually predatory felons.
I
support the appointment of qualified judges dedicated to the separation
of powers and enforcement of the laws as written. I support effective
anti-drug education programs, fair drug laws and rehabilitation of drug
users. Drug dealers should be subject to stiff penalties as drugs are a
scourge on California’s productivity and the quality of family life.
Criminals who abduct, exploit, abuse or prey upon children and other
vulnerable members of society such as the elderly or disabled
(including electronic stalking and economic crimes against the elderly)
should be severely punished.
